When I was 17 years old I got into a situation with a former boyfriend. I was charged with an Assult with A deadly Weapon in the State of North Carolina. The charge was dismissed. My parents payed an attorney to handle the situation and to get this off of my record. I thought that everyhting was handeled. I went on with my life and I have recently graduated with my Bachelors degree and I am having trouble obtaining a job. I applied for a job and I was denied. I went to the court house and the court of clerks said that it sould be the assult that I was charged with. The agency that did the background check did not pull up the Assult with a dealdy weapon. When I was 18 I had pressed charges on my daughters father for assult. It took about 4 months for the case to be heard. I asked the court could I dismiss the charges because we had worked things out and he is the only person that has been helping me to survive. They said no and made me pay a 150 court charge. Now I found out that they charged me with Criminal Contempt. Is it best for me to just Expunge the Assult charge that was dismissed or try to handle the Criminal Contempt Charge that showed up on the criminal history report.
