Withheld Adjudication On Criminal Record In Another State

I currently live in a different state were i have charges pending.(battery- I have been offered a plea of no contest and withheld adjudication with no conviction on criminal record. My question is should I accept this plea and will anything show up on my record if the state i currently live in does a background check for employment?

There is no such thing as a standard background check, so there is no way to say whether an employer will find out about the charge or not. Some states allow public access to criminal record information, some do not. Some employers will do extensive background checks, others do not. How this might effect you will be a function of whether or not your employer is looking very hard, what state you are in, and the laws in your state regarding such disclosures.

Ask yourself this: If you do NOT accept the plea, are you likely to get convicted and go to jail? What does your attorney say?
