SSI Says We Owe Money

My children were receiving SSI because of my ex-husband being disabled. Somehow he wasn't supposed to be getting it or wasn't reporting income or something and they now say that I owe 19k because my kids weren't supposed to be getting their checks.

Any advice or thoughts are appreciated

Generally speaking, when you receive such a notice you are also informed of your appeal rights. The appeals process is also described here. If you believe an error was made, I suggest appealing.

Your question suggests that you and your husband were separated or divorced when this occurred. Was that the case?
