Confusing Markings On A Parking Spot, Received Parking Ticket

At California State University Northridge I parked my car in the only remaining three spots that were right next to each other (| | | |). There is a yellow bar that is across the front of all three spots about 3 inches tall and about an inch away from the curb, both the bar and the curb are painted yellow. However, the lines indicating spots are white. In the usual spot at the back of the parking spot a very worn and weathered but still clearly visible, it says, "compact". However more clearly written above "compact" it says "motorcycle parking" in a black box with white lettering. I received a ticket for parking my car in a motorcycle only spot, the ticket says " parked motorcycle only". Is this a valid ticket? Thank you for your help.

Are you meaning to say that you parked your car across three marked parking spaces, the width of the lines being for motorcycles instead of cars?

The motorcycle parking is just three "compact" car parking spaces that have been converted by putting a bar across the three and painting it, and the curb, yellow. I parked normally between 2 lines no wheels going over either. The spaces/lines are perpendicular to the curb. So, no I didn't park across all three spaces. 1 space= 1 regular width parking spot not motorcycle width.
