Hello there,
I worked in retail for the past year at a high end dept store. Anyways in September, my dept got a new manager and right off the bat, she hated me. So I started documenting all the ways she discriminated and harrassed me and in October, I brought my concerns to her. Of course, she did nothing, but I turned my concerns into her on paper and to HR. Conditions worsened. She would not let me have any Sundays off, even though when I got hired, the previous manager said 2 or so Sundays off a month would be no problem.. I let my current manager know this and she told me she didn't care, I could only have Sundays off if it is a "requirement of my religion..." So in December, I went to HR with all the instances of harrassment and discrimination from my manager and told them how I tried to rectify the situation with her, but she was unwilling to work it out with me. After my conversation with HR, I can only assume HR disciplined my manager, because she began to retaliate against me. Her attitude toward me was outwardly rude and hateful. Finally, after trying for too long to deal with the harrassment and discrimination, I quit. All of this is documented - I have copies and so does HR. This to me seems like a good reason to quit... will I qualify for Unemployment? I really need the money - big time.![]()
