Default Meeting My Attorney For The First Time

    Hey

I'm meeting my attorney (this will be our first meeting) and I would like to know what to bring and expect (I want to be as ready as I can because I'm flying out of state for college in two days)

I'm leaving behind a typed explanation of what I am charged with (misdemeanor retail theft) as well as my contact information on it

I would like to know how detailed my explanation sheet should be and any tips for talking with my attorney (as you can tell, I'm quite nervous)

Also, my mom is coming with me (although I am over 18) but I sort of don't want her in the same room when I explain my case to my attorney because I haven't told her the whole truth, which I expect to tell to my attorney. BUT, I can't let my mom know that I don't want her in the same room though...geez, what a predicament

    Thanks

I'd say definitely be more honest with your attorney than you're going to be with your mother Remember, the more your attorney knows, the better equipped he is to defend you.
