I was involved in a hit and run / leaving the scene accident in Colorado (parked car) and I am being charged with the crime. My hearing date is scheduled in a few weeks.
- I have no other traffic tickets on my driving record
- I have told the police nothing (I have an attorney), but the paint tests show it was my vehicle (i.e. it's obvious I was at fault)
1) I am curious anyones experience on what type of penalties (community service hours etc.)/ license suspenions I should expect as a 1st time offender with a prior clean driving record? (My attorney expects there will be a plea bargain arranged, but obviously won't know until we talk to the DA )
2a) I also know my insurance premium will increase relative to what though... does that mean 2 fold, 5 fold increase?
2b) How long would I expect my insurance company to penalize me for this offence on my driving record? Would I expect higher premiums for the next 3, 5, xyz years?
Any help with my questions is much appreciated. I'd rather just get everything over with and move on instead of worrying about the mess I'm in.
thank you
