Privacy Act and Vindictive Teachers Or Students

If there is something that we don't want colleges to know, and if these respective students and teachers know about it, they could just send admissions a simple email, ruining one's chances completely. Is there anything under the Privacy Act or any other educational policy where teachers are forbidden to do this. I want the right to privacy, and I won't stand for a teacher that hates me to do such a thing. Can I sue a teacher on these grounds? This hasn't happened yet, but I'm keeping my eyes open at this point. Are teachers protected from being sued? I'm a legal adult now since I turned 18. I'm very concerned however with my situation.

So what is it that is so severe that you think it would ruin your chances with a college, that you think the college does not have a right to know?
