Default How To Handle Settlement In Nebraska
Hello everyone,
I received a disability rating of 20% due to an injury to my neck.
I'm thinking about doing a lump sum settlement.
My question is:
I live in Alabama, but was injured while working for a company in Nebraska.
I'm a truck driver, so we often don't live in the same state as our parent company.
Anyway, I talked to our WC company & they did say it should be no problen to settle with me, so that's good news. But, when I called an attorney, they said they would charge me 1/3 of my settlement!
For me, that's about 6,000 dollars!
Do i really need an attorney to represent me? I know I don't have to drive to Nebraska & be present in court. Should I just use an attorney to look of my settlement offer BEFORE I proceed, or do I need an attorney for the WHOLE process?
6,000 dollars is ALOT of money!
I'm thinking of doing a lump sum settlement because I only get 80.63 a week for 5 years & it doesn't really help with the bills that way.
Thanks everyone in advance!

If you are pleased with the settlement offer, you can settle your case without a lawyer.
