Car Hit With A Suspected To Be Stolen Automobile

A friend of mine found his car hit with another car this morning with the the owner to be found. Most likely, the car is a stolen vehicle and the police are investigating. He only has one way insurance and is worried that he won't be able to get his car fixed. Will his insurance cover him or is he responsible for the damages himself? Thanks
