Hi there and Happy New Year. Can you believe that on the last day of 2007 I was issued a speeding citation for going 65 in a 55 zone by LIDOR. I was going with the flow of traffic that had just slowed down for another state trooper who had pulled out infront of everyone to chase down another car (there were 2 MD State Troopers zapping the cars from a convenient store along MD228). As I passed the 2nd trooper his lights went on & I was like, "Please don't tell me that is for me?!" I watched the trooper weave through 5 cars to get to me and pull me over. He walked up to the car & I said hello and he stated the infraction and asked for my license and registration. You all know the deal after that, so I won't bore you with the details.
Anyway, he came back asked me to sign the citation and advised me to slow down. I thought, no problem, I plan on going to court & gather my evidence to prove that I was not speeding.
Now, here is where the multiple errors come into effect. Upon arriving at home I reviewed the citation. I can understand 1 or 2 but 4! (Technically 3 if you count the location as 1) Here they are: My license number is missing a number, the location of the infraction is wrong (states MD225 @ Bethbul Circle, actual location: MD228 @ Jennifer Rd) & lastly, the posted limit is 50mph. I know that makes me liable for being 15mph over the speed limit rather than 10mph cited but it is another error.
My question is, would multiple errors on this citation cause for grounds for dismissal? Or would the judge see this as cause for an amendment of the citation? I believe I may win this if I go to court. Any suggestions, thoughts, comments or advice on this is greatly appreciated.
