Certain jobs require background checks. The ones that don't it is up to the employer whether to do one & how thorough of a one to do. They are all not the same.

They are usually always done by financial institutions, retail stores, schools, caregivers - among many others. Possibly a very small employer may not do one.

No. No one can give you a list of jobs (or states, or industries) where you can be guaranteed that no one is going to do a background check. In some industries (and states, and jobs), they are mandatory. In all other cases, it is COMPLETELY up to the employer whether or not do run a background check, how deeply to run it, and whether to include other states.

ANY given employer, in ANY state, in ANY industry, can decide to run a background check. State law may limit how much weight they can give it, but there is no such thing as a job where you can be guaranteed that there will be no check run.
