    Exclamation Emancipation In Canada, Ontario

Ok so here it goes. I need to get accurate information about the Emancipation laws and proceedings, no offense I dont want replies about how life sucks at home, not to down play others situations, but time is very important in this. I will give brief details about the situation. My Girlfriend is turning 17 in 2 weeks, she left her grandparents (legal guardians) cause of verbal and physical abuse. She moved in with me, she is still a full time student in high school, and looking for work. She cant go back to the grandparents and the father has physcologically abused her in the past and reason to believe physically abused her too. I cant find anyone that will take her on as a dependant (as in become a new guardian) she is very mature for her age, however her family has police in it, so they are in the process of finding loop holes to force her home asap. How can we go to get he emancipated asap? What is the process and where do wed start? Hell her grandfather refused to leave the property and tried to force his way into me and my friends house, even uttering death threats, I have been harassed by the police that are friends of her grandparents and family too. We need to make this stop before she gets hurt! Some one please step forward and help us.

    Sincerly,

    SarniaLaw.

There are a number of sources on the Internet who suggest that a minor in Ontario can move out at the age of sixteen; but I haven't found any which cite an actual legal authority for that proposition, so I'm not sure whether the representation is valid.
This is not a Canadian forum. If you think you can find a better answer, try a Canadian forum or ask a Canadian lawyer.
