Injured In A Car Accident - Should I Sue?

I was recently involved in a 5 car pileup on the freeway. I was the very front driver, so not at fault,, but my car was totaled and my passenger and myself were injured and hospitalized. I suffered a shattered zygomatic arch (cheek bone) which I will need reconstructive surgery for once the swelling goes down, a broken nose, a torn back muscle and a severe concussion.
I am a 22 year old College student and am wondering if I should pursue some sort of monetary gain aside from the obvious car, medical, and property???

sure, why not? but since you have not included your state, it really does not matter what you here. It is not a possibility in some states.

im lost when it comes to the law...but ignorance is no excuse!!
would it be wisest to speak with an attorney? I put lawyers and mechanics in the same category though....very skeptical unless I know the person, they can feed BS and most people don't even realize it

Would punitive damages be considered being that my face is injured therefore finding viable work may be difficult, plus the shame and personal issues of looking like Quazi-Moto may affect my school, career,...etc

I have not looked in to the possibilities as of yet but you need to understand that unless you have a really bad surgeon these things:

should only be temporary, at most. temp injuries do not pull the heartstrings like this would:

A shattered cheekbone can lead to long-term problems, as even if well-constructed the eyes may be slightly out of alignment.

They can do miracles with plastic surgery. Just look at the younger Simpson sister. (no, not maggie, Ashley)

I'm not arguing that you can't get a very good cosmetic result. The issue, though, is that a very small deviation in the eye orbit can create long-term vision complications. Ask a doctor - they'll confirm.
