Probation Transfer

My friend was put on probation for 2yrs he got a vop about 4 months later DUI, the state of FL put him on Community Control for 1yr and after that 1yr regular probation. I believe he is also on county probation. What are his chances he can transfer to KY(his parent just moved there). How long does it take to get approved.

I know he need to talk to his PO, but is was just wondering sence he was on community control(house arrest) what was the likelihood of him getting approved.

You're not going to get that answer here, unless you want to hear something like, "somewhere between 0% and 50%", because we do not know and cannot know.

He has to talk to his probation officer.

However, as Mr. Knowitall says, your friend's PO will have to start the process and send a set of forms and information to the receiving state. That's done electronically. The receiving state will decide whether to accept and send back their determination to the sending PO. All that can take as long as 45 days but can also be accomplished in as little as 2-3 weeks (very unlikely to go through that fast). The receiving state will make contact with the expected parents to confirm living/working arrangements. If your friend has any extenuating circumstances why the he/she needs to transfer, it may help - but history with existing PO and the nature of the situation could play against them too. If approved, the current PO will have to personally deliver any transfer instructions, provide a travel letter, and the specified reporting date the probationer must meet for the receiving state.

The initial hurdle will be to inspire the probation officer or court to initiate transfer proceedings, and there is no guarantee that they will be interested in doing so.
