Default Petty Theft Misdemeanor And Getting a Finance Job

Does anyone know if it's possible to work for a bulge bracket finance firm with a petty theft misdemeanor? If it's up to the employer, has anyone ever been employed even with the misdemeanor? Sources would be appreciated. Thanks.

Per your previous threads it seems this just happened last year. It would be up to the employer. You probably have a better chance getting a job with a theft misdemeanor in a business other than "finance."

You asked if anyone ever got a job in finance with a theft misdemeanor. You can hold & see if anyone comes along that has.
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

I do not work for a finance firm, but I have done my share of hiring.

When I am weeding through the stack of resumes I get for any opening, the first cut is the deepest... I am looking for any reason to round file a resume.

Funny paper, videotapes, even, in one notable case, a perfumed cover letter... all get round filed.

Anyone with a conviction for theft could certainly fall into that category.

You may want to think about another line of work.

It will probably help to put some time between the offense. Most jobs only exclude you b.c of a felony maybe but your still at a disadvantage. A lawyer told me that she knows people with good jobs that have a misdemeanor. Have you looked in to expungment that may help you somewhat? Sometimes they consider the type of offense and how it relates to the job.
