I live in California, and I was just in a "fender-bender" a few hours ago. I bumped the car in front of me while in the drive-thru of burger king. The other driver was in a Suburban, and I drive a Hond Civic. It was clearly visible that there was no damage done to her car, but she was furious that I did not have insurance, or any registration. She called and got advice from a friend of hers, who she says was a Police Officer. She wrote down all of my information; address, DL's #, phone number, VIN#, etc. She told me that I could go and that her "Cop Friend" was going to write a report for her later. My question is, what kind of trouble am I in? Can she sue me for damages that I did not do? Can she still get a police report even after we both left the scene?
BTW..in case you are wondering, I am in the process of registering my car which why I didn't have any of that on me. I only had the temporary permit on my window.
Please help me with any information/advice you might have regarding this situation. I am completely freaked, I don't like giving away my information like that. I understand that I am completely at fault.![]()
