I am located in MN and have been harrassed for the past two months by a Sgt in the Army. He is married.
In a nut shell: I met him online on Pogo.com (playing members-only games online) he was stationed in Iraq and we struck up a friendship. After a while he became very possessive and when I decided to cut off communication with him, he got angry. I blocked his email and IM as he was sending very obsessive and, frankly, scary messages. Now, since beginning of November, after he returned State side, he has left messages on my phone at 4 am telling me that he has given out my personal info and phone numbers as well as pictures to anyone who wanted them. He also threatened that he had emailed immigration about me (I am currently a resident alien.
I removed myself from Pogo completely, blocked his known contact names and kept to myself.
Now, I found out tonight that he has apparently also been impersonating me online to some old Pogo friends making me appear to be sexually deviant. I received threatening email and a phone message from one woman who thinks I am interested in her fiance. He also posted pictures of me online, which I managed to get removed, thank heavens. I have had absolutely enough.
I have not responded to any nastiness from him, I have not threatened him, I have not contacted his wife to help stop him, as I believed it would make matters worse, but the longer I ignore (or try to) this the more he keeps doing.
I sent a letter to the Inspector General at his current posting asking them to intervene and maybe find help or counseling (or both) for him. I am at a loss at what else to do. I still have the voice mail messages that he left and emails that he sent. I know I won't ever trust anyone online again, but surely there must be some legal rights I have to protect myself from him?
