Default Felony Destruction of Property Charges

My girlfriends ex boyfriend slashed 4 of my tires in her driveway, we called the cops and I pressed charges on him. I might be regretting my decision since he has no one in his life and is sitting in jail. Is there anyway I can drop the charges, he was already on probation for driving on a suspended license, so he's probably looking at some time if I press these charges. Any help would be apperciated, thanks.

The state presses charges, you don't. However, depending on your state and the prosecutor, they might let you drop the matter ... it's up to you. Contact the prosecutor's office.
