How Accurate Is The Social Security Statement

I filed for SSD in Aug. 06. Got denied, got an attorney, filed for appeal in Jan. 07 and now waiting for the hearing. The last statement I received was in 06. I went to SSA.gov, calculate benefits, followed the instructions and got an estimated disability amount. My husband is convinced that it IS the amount I will recieve. I'd just like to know how close to the amount I'll be receiving is the statement and/or the online calculator? I had a great career going before my disability, had to leave it due to health, tried working part time in retail....no good. Last time I worked was 06. If the statement is correct, although not close to my salary, I will be satisfied. Comments?

The calculator and your Social Security statement are as accurate, or more accurate, than any other estimate you are likely to obtain, short of applying and getting an award of benefits.
