I was involved in an accident today while making a left turn on red. I was at an intersection, waiting to make a left turn, I saw the light turn yellow, and I pulled forward a little, and then the light turned red, at this point, multiple vehicles in the 1 and 3rd lanes were stopped completely, I saw no vehicles anywhere near my car, so I began my turn, as I began to turn, a school bus began making a wide right turn, so I slowed up a little, by this point, my car had completed turning, and I was right behind the bus....out of nowhere, a car came from the other side of the road, which had had a red light for several seconds. The car barreled into mine and knocked me over to the side of the road.
Long story short, several of the other drivers came forth, offering to be witnesses, saying that they believed that the woman in this other car seemed to be deliberately trying to hit me.
The police came and took a report, and I exchanged insurance information with her, although she ridiculously claimed that she had not ran a red light, even though it was pretty obvious that the light had long been red after she came through, in fact, vehicles on the other side of the road has just gotten their green light when she came through.
What are the odds that I end up with the fault for this accident? Is
"left on red" always the fault of the one making a left turn, no matter the circumstances?????
