Deliberate False Derogatory Entry On Credit Report

I know for a fact that a collection agency falsely posted a derogratory report for a very large sum to my credit report.
Facts ex had entered agreement with agency to collect on judgment she won. After months of unsuccessful attempts and long periods of inactivity she terminated agreement and eventually settled direct with debtor.
Agency got very pissed and filed suit, they named me in the suit, but i have nothing to do with it, The also made large sum derogatory entries to both mine and ex's credit reports

You may have a case here and you need an attorney to protect your interests on the case against you.

Many consumer attorneys will give you 15-30 minutes of their time for an initial consultation. It might behoove you to take up a meeting with them and see what their guidance is and whether or not you have a case. Many of the local consumer attorneys here in Virginia will take winning cases on a contingency basis. That means they get 33-40% of the winnings BUT they front all of the money and fees (usually...sometimes a small retainer is requested) until you win the case. ...and I have met very few who take losing cases on contingency.

Outside of that you have several remedies through the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, and possibly through your state. If you can't find a lawyer to take the case for a reasonable fee or on a contingency basis you may want to engage your State Attorney General or Consumer Protection Division. Some AGs require that all court cases be completed before they will render a decision or even investigate on a complaint.
