    Default Emancipation Help And Questions

So I'm 16 and I am considering emancipation. I'm considering it because, of the more "conservative" or "real" reason the law says, i am a mature teen who could support himself. I am happy with my family, being my Mom, Dad, and Me. With my consent and my parent consent wouldn't my chances of emancipation be high? Also if i did get emancipated what kind of aid would Michigan give me? Be it health care, or financial aid for college. Also from my understanding a big part of it would be any life goals, and i do have goals toward a degree in Computers and i am currently taking normal high school classes and i am taking college classes toward my degree. A big part of why i want emancipation is the chance that financial aid wont look at my parents income because if they do then they will want a lot of money from my parents, which they cannot give.

Thanks in advanced for the help.

You'll be expected to be employed (BEFORE you apply) and to pay for your healthcare out of your own pocket. If you're a (working) student, you might find some good deals - check with the folks at your school's health office to see what insurance programs they work with. If you're at a larger university, they usually have health fees included in your tuition bill if you'll be living on campus and this can give you access to varying levels of care (mostly routine visits). As far as tuition assistance, it'll depend on your income of course, grades, major, number of hours you'll be taking, etc. - but courts aren't going to want to emancipate you just so you'll be eligible for public assistance.

Someone else might have better insight on this, but when I was doing my financial aid forms, even as a 22 year old, they STILL wanted my parents info, so don't be disappointed if you have to do what most students do and take out student loans or use places like FastWeb to find scholarships geared towards your particular school or major.
