Jailtime might feel like you are being punished too, and I suppose in a way you are. However, thousands of dead women and children before you caused the system to take the stance that it does because research and case histories by the thousands PER YEAR show that incarceration for the offender is often the ONLY way that victims (that's you AND your children) can be safe and may have the option (even an unwanted one) to do something OTHER than stay shacked up with an abuser. I know it sucks to look at a future where you might financially "lose" much - however, if he's being held accountable for his actions at the hand of the state (for decisions that HE MADE), you'll be alive and well to move on to a situation where you are not dependent on someone willing to commit violence against you. I cannot urge you strongly enough to contact resources in your area including your local domestic violence program to get assistance. Your situation is NOT a unique one, and they have helped many others through the exact kinds of problems, financial woes, and obstacles that you are faced with now. No one expects that you'll be just fine and dandy on your own with his financial support suddenly out of the picture; that's not realistic. BUT assistance in many forms is available if you are willing to look for it.

I don't live in a fantacy land.... and things are far from "well now". I am well aware that women die all the time from not seeking help. I have done plenty of research and discussed my situation with a variety of councelors including those at women's shelters. I have also utilized the councel available from my church. I AGREE that if the women and men don't seek help soon enough if can continue, but that is what we are doing. There has been no promises, nor any sense of false hope. It amazes me how "people" are quick to assume that ALL situations are the same and be so QUICK to put a lable on someone. Again, read my post... no where does it state that I've been given any false hope. It simply states that we are trying to work past this.

Speaking of your forgiveness its odd you're able to forgive him for beating you faster than you were to forgive him for being unfaithful.

It shouldn't be a shock that there are PLENTY of people in this world QUICK to judge. Forgiving and Forgetting are TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS. I am aware of that, are either of you?? So many women DON"T seek help because of people like you. I'm sure that you are both perfect, never made a mistake, have nothing you regret?? How would you feel if you had done wrong and people didn't forgive you?

Women dont seek help because of us. I have said more than once to get counseling and continue I also added couples therapy!! Lady your perfect man ISNT he has cheated and struck with little consequence and therefore has no reason to stop. Talk to the people at the shelters and your counselor before this gets worst. I hav enot said its over but I (and others) have very strongly urged you to seek help and not be fooled by promises. If you cant take that well you got your legal answers so move on.

none of your answers were "legal" advice. you simply passed judgement and told me to get counceling so that I could form judgement. No one is perfect. Not me, not my "cheating" "wifebeating" man, NOR YOU SIR....

I have no doubt I am not perfect my wife reminds and I dont hit her over it nor do I cheat. This site offers "free" advice you got what you paid for and I hope you "heard" us well. We have been trying to help and it you noticed the consensus was all the same.
