Finding a Criminal Defense Lawyer

I am charged with shoplifting of IIIrd degree & false information at NJ (for the 1st time) and looking for an good lawyer to hire. Who you might recommend to check out? Also what is common knowledge/opinion on Public Lawyer and lawyers associated with bailer? What lawyer could be more helpful, resourceful & secure?

1. Thank you for your guidance. I read the article in regard to hiring a criminal defense lawyer. Unfortunately I do not have any
referrals and I cannot go to a courtroom for observation (I am located at state different from where I was charged). But I checked some directories and selected the following firms:Jason T. Brown, Chase Law Group, Criminal Defence Associates and The Cochram Firm. I talk to them. They all sounded competent & reliable. I need, if you have, some more information/independent opinion on any of
them. Other vice I do not know how to choose the one.

2.1. Could you please tell me where I can find information on whether shoplifting of 3rd degree considered (agrivated?)felony or misdemeanor?
2.2 Would my crime have any affect on my immigration status? Would I be deported?

New Jersey state law classifies offenses as crimes of the first, second, and third degree, which are high misdemeanors, and crimes of the fourth degree, which are misdemeanors. New Jersey also defines the term "felony" to include high misdemeanors.

As this charge would be a felony and would likely be viewed as a crime of moral turpitude, it very much could affect your immigration status.
