    Default Mistake Made By Police

I have a question is there any chance that I can get something done with this. I was just caught shoplifting with a friend at Kohls in Illinois. On the police report they officer that wrote it has made a mistake. It says this

Knowingly took possesion of certain merchandise offered for sale in a retail mercantile establishment ,walmart (but then it is scribbled out and says Kohls on top of it).......... having a total value not in excess of 150 with the inention of depriving the merchang, WalMart, permanently of the full retail value of such merchandise.

So what I'm wondering is is this mistake gonna do anything to the trial? The mistake is made on both my police report and my friends.

    I'm soooo confused! Please help!

Oh another thing this is my first time being arrested for shoplifting and I am 19. They said that my FAFSa grant was going to be taken away is this true????

Drug offenses can affect financial aid eligibility; I haven't seen anything which would suggest that a shoplifting conviction would have an effect.

When I worked for a large retailer EVERYONE was loss prevention and the undercover LP folks tripled. rhetorical question: why do people steal around Christmas?

You may want to check your college code of conduct. In some communities a college will suspend or expunge a student for stealing as it tarnishes the image of their college. This is generally only in private schools or schools with top reputations.

I just saw your other thread and wanted to edit my reply:
You have two offenses and are on probation if I am not mistaken.
You don't have much money and you are trying to scrape by with student loans.
You have allegedly stolen something from Kohls (hey, innocent until proven guilty) and were arrested.
You have no clue about the civil remediation options that might loom along with the criminal charges.
You do not have an attorney.

I highly suggest you hire an attorney; find the money to hire them. Talk to a few that provide the free consultations and see what their cost will be. They would have the experience to tell you what you are facing.
I highly suggest you stay straight as an arrow and don't break the law (again) while on probation or community control.
If you do any drugs or drink whatsoever quit both of them now.
If you are on supervised probation your Probation Officer is going to have a chat with you very soon. The beginning of that chat will likely go "Blow into this straw. *beep*" Okay, pee into this cup and don't wash your hands or run the water until I have your urine specimen."

I highly suggest that you consider discussing with your attorney the chance to join a constructive and motivational environment that will pay you to earn an education as well as provide you money for college after you serve your commitment. Some branches of the service have community colleges that can provide you a 2 year degree in your 6 years of service. Because of the war on terror many of the branches of service have some enticing programs. (aaron - If I can't make this recommendation please delete it).
