Default Domestic Battery
The other night my fiance and I got into an argument. I was playing golf all day and had a few too many drinks. I came home and she took my debit card away so I couldn't spend anymore money. We got into a verbal argument and I was trying to get the card away from her. Tere was pushing and shoving on both of our behaves. The cops got called and they took me to jail. The state pressed charges and I plead no contest because I didn't know what else to do. She does not want to press charges and is on good terms with me. Is there anyway I can appeal and plead not guilty?

Your no contest plea would have been treated by the court as a guilty plea. Once that happens, it is unlikely that a court will permit you to withdraw your plea.

You don't give us any indication of your state - as you were instructed when you posted, laws vary by state - nor of how long ago this happened. Consult a criminal defense lawyer in your state.

I was charged with domestic battery in Florida last Thrusday night. I've already contacted a lawyer but they want $750 just to try to reopen the case. I don't want to spend the money if it is probably not going to happen.

That's a determination to make in consultation with your lawyer.

If you submitted your plea while in jail you should be able to alter it when before a Judge. Also if your fiancee wants to help you she can write a letter to the State Attorneys office eattesting to your good character adn requesting the State drop charges. She can also request a no contact dropped by filing a form no contacted dismisses and giving it to judge over your case.

This is procedure for Florida don't know what state your in?
