[color=green]My name is Samantha. I'm 16 years old and i'll be 17 on January 6 but i need to get out of my house. I've lived in Ohio all my life until recentally when i moved in with my mom she couldn't support herself so she moved in with her parents in Virginia, and brought me along for the ride. Now i have a job and a cell phone bill and i pay for everyhting i ever need. She just doesn't want to work she would rather mooch off everyone else. I get perfect grades in school and i make 200 dollars a week just in tips. I really want to move back to Ohio to all the things i've ever known. My boyfriends dad even wants me to come live with him and finish up school in Ohio so i can go to a vocational school that has the kind of job i would like to pursue. Do i have enough cause to emancipate myself.

Virginia's emancipation law provides:

Any minor who has reached his sixteenth birthday and is residing in this Commonwealth, or any parent or guardian of such minor, may petition the juvenile and domestic relations district court for the county or city in which either the minor or his parents or guardian resides for a determination that the minor named in the petition be emancipated. The petition shall contain, in addition to the information required by § 16.1-262, the gender of the minor and, if the petitioner is not the minor, the name of the petitioner and the relationship of the petitioner to the minor.
