Yes, they can still sue her & if she doesn't show up in court, they will get a default judgment against her.
If they get a judgment, they can seize all non-exempt assets allowed in her state & possibly garnish wages - it's according to the state which you didn't name.
Judgments are normally good for quite some time (again time according to state) & even if she hasn't any assets currently, she may in the future.
When was the last action taken on the card (ie date of last payment)? It's possible the SOL *might* be up for collection of the debt but again depends on state & when last action taken.
