Default Consequences of Retail Theft
i have been charged with a first time theft misdemeanor. I have NEVER been in trouble before and am NOT a bad person. Things have been rough in my life right now, and I made a bad choice. I commited retail theft with just under 100 dollars. What will most likely happen to me??? I am scared to death.

Speaking of death...just kidding. The lawyers on here may need to know what state you live in to help you.

Likely outcome without knowing your state

. Fines (less than $1000.00)

. Community service

. Ban from retailer

. Probation

Now outside of court issue will be Civil Demand which I will "guess at around $300.00

Panther, I'm in Illinois and I am dealing with the same situation. as cj84 says "i have been charged with a first time theft misdemeanor. I have NEVER been in trouble before and am NOT a bad person.
