Default Assault by Live-in Partner in Texas
Here is my situation... Yesterday morning my partner got angry, broke my personal belongings, intentionally slammed the car door into my ribs three times, and drenched me with rain water from a puddle. I called the police and they took him and his belongings to the bus station without pressing charges. I wanted to press charges but the DA would not accept them (thats what the police officer told me). I followed the police car to the bus station and when the police left, we chatted and because he did not want to go to his parents house in small town, TX (3 hrs away) and had no friends who could take him in, i took him back to my place. I later gave him my car to drive to his parents house to celebrae his 30th B-Day. he is there now hoping that i will accept him back. He has no money and no shelter. The apartment is leased in my name - his name does not appear on the lease. I supported him for 9 months to the tune of approx $10k and he has repaid just $3500. Each time he has money he gives it to me but by doing so he still remains dependant on me. I realize this isnt the issue however but i wanted to mention it. My dilemma is whether or not i should forgive him and accept him back. He says he loves me and cries when he is apart from me. He creid for 2 hours in the back of the police car and begged me to tell the police to release him. BUT i feel he may be saying that and crying/ acting just to return to the free comforts of my home and for the business profits that he and i were going to receive from opening our own business together before he abused me. I appreciate any advice, legal or not, that anyone can give.

thanks

If you wish to continue a one-sided relationship, where you apparently play parent and occasional punching bag to your 'partner', you're a grown-up so that's your decision to make. But if you have even the slightest notion about starting a business with this person, I suggest that you think twice.
