I was caught shoplifting at macys in california the amount was $98 the loss prevention people threaten to charge me for return abuse and i admitted to shoplifting before in the amount of $2500, after they pressured me if i didnt i wouldnt be let go. I was not arrested or charged but signed forms for the amount i shoplifted $98 and that they would send me a civil demand form in the next 45 days, and also a form stating a had previously shoplifted for $2500 which they never gave me a copy i signed without reading all the print they said if I signed they would release me and I would just have to pay back the amounts I owed and it wouldnt go on my record.
I dont know whats happening because i have read others situation and they all say they were eventually taken to court.
please advise me?
what are my rights? consequences?
and will i be charged even though they said i wouldnt?
is admitting to shoplifting even though i wasnt caught the same consequences as if i was caught?
HELP PLEASE THANKS
