Default Disputing Paternity in Arkansas
Hi,
I'm new to this forum so please forgive any blunders - they're not intentional.

My husband of three years, pays child support via Arkansas for the child of a woman he dated about 15 years ago. She claimed he was the father but that is mighty questionable. I have seen a few pictures of the child and see no resemblance.

A few weeks ago I heard a rumor that, in Arkansas, paternity may be disputed at any time and child support obligations cancelled. Anyone know if this is true? If so, where would we start?

Thanks so much for your help!

Usually, once paternity is established by affidavit or court order, you're pretty much stuck. I think Arkansas makes an exception in cases involving extrinsic fraud, but that's not going to apply except in rare circumstances. Your boyfriend should talk to an Arkansas child custody lawyer to see what, if any, remedies might be available.
