Angry Scared of Losing My Home, in North Carolina

Married a year ago unknowingly a career criminal who has caused my ruin. Divorcing. Heavily indebted way over my ears. Soon turning 61 yrs old. Have only a small pension/annuity for income. My once impeccable credit standing is ruined as well. Don't have two cents to rub together let alone pay for a bankruptcy attorney..yet creditors/credit cards are suing me in court which is all in my name. Everything is in my name prior and after marriage including my main concern: MY HOME. Bought in cash prior to marriage and as well in my name only. Paid $100K. Have tax liens from 2005 of $41K and will have same for 2006 and 2007 when filed. Have equity loan of $30K. My once $300K IRA is exhausted. I am SCARED STIFF and know I need bankruptcy. Chap 7 is only way to go as I don't have income to pay off creditors let alone survive. MY HOME..is what I am petrified about. Don't understand exemptions. Wondering how to fill the cap, and not have my house forced to be sold. More concerns as well. but MY HOME, losing that would put me over the edge. Need to do something QUICK. Have tried getting legal aid services for BK. Figures that this county I live in does not have help in BK.
