Default Repo Men Looking For My Stolen Motorcycle
Hello, I am located in New York and around 1:00 am my bell rang. When I approached the door I saw 2 shady looking individuals dressed in thugish clothes and totally did not expect anyone to ring my bell at that time of night specially these 2 guys. Turns out that they are the repo men. They were looking for my co-signer and being that they did not mention my name I told them that I had no Idea who the person was. To make a long story short, my motorcycle was stolen from my garage in 2005 and unfortunately I had not theft coverege because it was out of season and the motorcycle was stored securely, so I thought. Therefore, I continued to make payments ($8,000.00)with out metioning the theft to the bank, althought police reports were made and so on. I now owe about $3500 and I recentley lost my job and that is why they came. I am totally in the dark when it comes to these situatution. I have a garage which is part of my home and I am worried that these guys will break in to see if the motorcycle is in it.
Can they do that or is that against the law?
Also can I get in trouble by not telling them that it was me they were looking for?
Also would it a good idea or would there be any consequence to tell the bank that the motorcycle was stolen back in 2003?

Please help.!!
Thank you!

Your motorcycle was stolen in 2005. You reported this to the police at the time? Oops - it was stolen in 2003, now? Alright....

They aren't supposed to break and enter to effect repossession. That would be a "breach of the peace". I can imagine, though, that they might claim to have "found the garage open."
