Default How long is the statute of limitations in California
I was evicted 11 years ago; the landlord is still after me for $15,000.00. Can he still take me to court? How long is the statue of limitation on such a case in California?
Please help :?:

Default Judgment Debt
If there is a judgment, he has already taken you to court. He can take you back to court as part of the collection process. He can periodically renew the judgment. Judgments expire after ten years, but he can renew the judgment prior to the end of any particular ten year period and there is no limit on renewals.

I was out of the country when he went to court. Can a judgement be taken without notifing me?

Default Absence from Country
"It depends." It is possible that they obtained "substituted service" in accord with a court order. It is possible that your delay in seeking relief from the judgment since you learned it exists would make it more difficult to challenge the question of notice. You should consider obtaining a copy of the court file and having it reviewed by a local lawyer to see if any remedies are available to you.
