Post Quit Claim Deed Not Filed After Sale

Hope sosmeone can help. I sold a piece of property 3 years ago to the elks lodge. I gave them a quit claim deed and they gave me money. Well 3 years later and they have never filed the deed or paid the taxes. And the county tax department has written me a letter stating that my name will appear in the paper for unpaid taxes and if I do not pay them they will forclose on me. My question is if I pay the taxes can I retain the deed to the property since they have never filed the deed? And if I choose to do this what can they do to me? I do not want my name in the paper saying I don't pay my taxes. Im a very upstanding citizen and never cause problems.
I am located in the state of OHIO

Paying the taxes doesn't get you title. If you want, you can wait until there is a tax sale and try purchasing the property at the tax sale.

What did the Elks say when you contacted them about this?

They told me they remember that there was going to be a purchase of land but have no record it was purchased.

    Curtazman,

Do you mind sharing how this issue was resolved? I have a similar complaint and I too am from Ohio. I am thinking about filing a lien against the property but don't know exactly how to go about it.
