Default Simple Assault and Harassment Charges in Philadelphia
Hi,
About year ago, there was small unexpected event in my parent's store.
One customer came in to pick up her window which my dad fixed it. My dad asked to pay her remaining balance which is shown at receipt. So, she gave her credit card to my dad. However, my mom gave her discount in her recepit. Since my mom was not in store, my dad did not know about that discount. As soon as that customer notice my dad has no idea about that recepit and discount. Customer took credit card back and try to escpae store with window without paying anything. So, my dad grap her and block the door so she cannot escape with screen. She screamed and one of customer called police. As soon as police car is shown, she kick my dad and escape from store with window. couple minutes later, police brought her back to store. At that time, customer was screaming that my dad hit her. However, policeman ordered her to pay remaining balance to my dad and let her go.

About year later, she filed complaint about simple assault and harassment against my dad. What kind of act my dad can do? My dad said he did not hit her but he just hold window becuase she tried to exit store with window without paying remaining balance. In addition, in citation from court, she also said it did not sustain any injuries.

What do you mean, "she filed complaint about simple assault and harassment"? You mean a prosecutor has authorized criminal charges? Or is this a civil lawsuit?
