Default US and Canada Credit Rules
The short of my problem is this: I am Canadian and went to school In Canada. According to my records, I've paid off my student loans and have been working in the US since graduating. Three years after graduating, a collection agency said they had a delinquent student loan of mine. I immediatly asked them for paperwork proving who this loan was from and how much it was for. There was no such proof given. They started sending me monthly statements of this loan, but again, no proof that it was mine. They did not contact me again, until two years later (a few weeks ago) threatening to smear my US credit with this delinquency if I didn't resolve it. I told them that this loan was officially disputed as I never recieved proof of legitimacy. My questions is: Can a Canadian collection agency even report delinquencies with US credit companies?

There's no reason they can't try.
