Let Go Over an Internet Posting

I am a member and moderator of an online community. The URL is www.zomgstuff.net. We talk about anything really ranging from games, computers, movies, and sometimes even personal stuff. Well I was fired from my job for a thread I made after my first day of work. I just want to know whether this falls into freedom of speech outside the workplace or not.

She found the thread on google and said I was making her lose business and I insulted her. I fail to see how I could have made her lose business because only one person on that entire forum lives anywhere near me!

First off I find your avatar repulsive but thats not issue. I see yor point you rpost were not real bad but "could" be taken by thjose mroe sensitive as insulting. Far as losing business you don't encourage business thats for sure. However here is realissue. With the exception of Montana all staes are "at will" meaning an employer can fire you at anytime for any or no reason long as it violates no law. In your case ther eis no violation of law. Where does that leave you? Looking for a new job and hopefully learning to keep your mouth shut at least in public areas like forums etc. One lmore note you named business another no no.

I don't have to look at the thread to know that (1) this is not a freedom of speech issue and (2) it is legal to terminate you for this reason.

Did you even read it? I didn't even insult my boss. I made a ****ing observation! Most of the language was said by other people! What she fired me for is all on page 1. Page 2 is nothing except that I wont be one more then some random person from my city started talking shit to me. He threatened to bad mouth me all over town to make sure i never got a job?

Also I trashed the thread. Since I did I will copy paste all my posts that she could have possibly fired me for.

1st Post:
Well as most of you know I finally started my new job today at "Sandfly Variety Store". Sandfly is the nickname this part of town has had for years and years. Also a Sandfly is a gnat.

It was Okay. I work with a hottie 17 year old chick and some old ppl. It's k. We did a good bit of business today considering we have done no advertising besides turning on the open sign. We were steady throughout most of the day. It seems like it will be an Okay job. I really didn't like the fact my first day was a 10.5 hour shift. -.-



By the way it's not technically a dollar store. It's a variety store. AKA dollar store on steroids. Almost everything is more than a dollar.

I don't know tbh. Lol. she said it would be alot more than I was making at Food Lion ($7). She doesn't really have her shit together. She doesn't even have a schedule worked out.....
