Default Domestic Assault in Missouri
My boyfriend and I got into an argument in this small hillbilly town he is from... we were verbally arguing - there was no physical assault or anything like that- we had been drinking - he was drunk- i wasn't - we were at a hotel and someone called the police - this is the bad part of it - the police came - I told them he did not hit me - which he didnt - and they let us go back into the room - Joe, my bf, came in after talking to the police a few minutes longer and said we had to leave the hotel - the hotel manager said so - then he decided he wanted a refund if we had to leave - went back outside yelling im sure - and they cops arrested him for assault. I bailed him out that night- 1000.00 bail - we went to another hotel but I was still mad at him so got up early and left - ( I know that was wrong of me) well he went out on the street upset and mad and was arrested again for disturbing the peace. By this time I had turned around to go back and get him (guilt) I found out he had been arrested for two counts of assault and on tampering with a witness - (witness is me - he didnt - I dont know what they are talking about) the other assault charge was for one over a year ago that had been dismissed. The Pros Atty brouht it back up. I do not want to press charges, the other person does not want to press charge - this was over 18 months ago. He has been in jail since august 10 because the bond is so high - $10,000 for each charge - cash only. The PA is set to sen him back to prison - he is a felon - went to prison for 5 years for drugs. He has been out for over two and we have no problem until he goes back to this small town where he was arrested and convicted - they know him there - he does not do drugs or anything now - and I did not know him back then - the cops, sheriffs, judges all know him and are biased. He has NEVER hit me - he just has a loud mouth and we were yelling. Im so afraid he is going back to prison and it will be my fault. I have paid $3000.00 to an attorney but he is not local and I dont think he will get him out of this mess. NOTHING HAPPENED. I know he used to be stupid and bad but he is not now - please help . We had only gone back to this town to see about his crazy mother - we live 150 miles away in Kansas City. The attorney I have says all of this would be thrown out in KC. I have been driving every week to visit him for 15 minutes and working two jobs to pay the attorneys. Im about to fall apart - the county is the one that has made me a victim! I would never put up with any man hitting me - I know it is all my fault because he had just said "hold it down before someone calls the cops" and then there was that rap on the door.

I know it is all my fault

You have psychological problems as well as alcohol problems.

Stay away from this loser and get on with your life.

Start going to AA. Get counseling.

Sounds like that correctional facility he went to really worked out for him.If the system screws you its best to get out and stay away from it. They probably know they wont be able to prosecute him so they will hold him until trial.
