I have been married for 3 years, my wife had a child when she was 16 years old. When the child was 2 years old, my wife gave temporary guardianship to her aunt and uncle because of the lifestyle she was living (drugs, etc.) . The family supposedly agreed that when she was ready, she could have her daughter back.
The child is now 12 years old. Last summer we took my wife's aunt & uncle to court to get custody of her. The judge denied us saying that there were no problems with where she was living and there was no reason to move her to our house.
I have just learned that the house they are living in has been condemned and they have 30 days to move out. If they do not find sufficient housing in that 30 days, my stepdaughter will be put in State custody.
Question is - Is there anything we can do in the next 30 days to be awarded custody of her so she doesn't end up in state custody?
Feel free to reply with any questions on info I may have left out. Thanks in advance.
