Default Child Support Ordered After a Failure to Appear in Court
My friend Tom has come to me for help and I was hoping to get some preliminary advice as to how to address this issue resolved.

In a nutshell, his girlfriend gets pregnant and has a baby. Tom refuses to sign the birth cerificate after learning of infidelity during their relationship. She sues him for child support and wins b/c he did not show. She is awarded a hefty monthly sum, much more than he can afford to pay. They are not on speaking terms. He wants a paternity test.

Thanks in advance.

Default Default on Paternity Lawsuit
By choosing not to defend himself in the paternity case, he may have lost any right to dispute paternity. He should consult a local family lawyer to see if there is any way he can challenge the default judgment and obtain a paternity test.
