Fair Use of Music

Hi,

Im a graphic Designer and on my online portfolio i would like to display student work i created a while back.

This student work consists of "fake" or "mock up" commercials and TV promotions for companies such as Nike and MTV - which include their logos -, among others.

Also each one of these videos is accompanied by a short piece of copyrighted music from known artists.

The work is completely uncommercial and personal, but displaying it on my website could lead potential clients into buying my services.

My question is, can i use such material? If not, What do i risk?

The use of trademarks, even for a non-commercial purpose, is a thorny area. Unless you can get permission from the owners of the trademarks, I would suggest consulting with an intellectual property lawyer about your situation.
