Unhappy Car Deal Between Family Members Fell Through

Car Deal Between Family Members fell through need help.

My Uncle has been trying to sell an expensive old corvette for months (we all live in CA). I went to see the car and I liked it.

Later I agreed to buy it on the contingency that the VIN verification on the frame and body matched (I was worried because the body VIN was rewelded on). I was suppose to bring a check in 2 weeks to pick up the car.

Later I got worried that the frame VIN could also be changed, so regardless if it matched (I still dont know) I would not want the car. So the day before I was supposed to come I called him and informed him that I changed my mind and I am recinding my offer. Well he is IRRAITE!!! What is my obligation?

    Please Help

    Your obligation is none.

Also I was going to buy the car without the engine (It was not the original). I was supposed drive it home, then in a couple of months return the engine via my truck.

He has told me he has sold the engine to someone else and how dare I back out of this deal because he will then have a car with no engine.

Am I wrong? Should he have sold the engine before the car? Am I obligated?

I would like some help because I feel like a heel...
