Green Card Through Marriage Process

My boyfriend is a Turkish citizen here for the summer on a J1 Visa. I am a U.S. Citizen and wish for him to stay here. I would like to marry him or do anything possible so he can stay. Can someone give me advice on the best options? I know that it is a long process... and I heard that it was unlawful for someone with a J1 to marry while in the United States. Insight would be much appreciated.

Are'nt you the same person who posted earlier saying that he wants to change from J1 to F1? or Are'nt you planning to marry that person?

Well, if you are a U.S. citizen, you have a fundamental right to marry and you can marry anyone, legally or even illegally present in the U.S. You can also marry someone outside U.S. and can bring him to the U.S. by sponsoring him a green card.

Don't worry, just marry the J1 visa holder, then go to www.uscis.gov, call the 1800 number and ask the form or procedure to file Green Card for your spouse. No law in the U.S. can separate the married couple.

Is his J1 subject to a Two-Year Foreign Residence requirement? Marriage won't change that requirement, so if it does he would need to seek a waiver.
