I have a car in California that is in a back yard. It has not been driven or repossessed. I traded in my old car and only made one payment. Fell on hard times and did not know what to do. There is nothing on my credit report about it, and there wasn't any court judgment. I have no criminal record for GTA. What is my legal standing in this situation. I would love to just give the car back and be done with it. Can the loan company still come after me?
From what you have said, and assuming nothing you don't know, the statute of limitations would have run on any effort to collect on the car loan. Assuming they registered a lien, you don't have clear title to the vehicle to sell it - is that the case?
