    Default When Is Emancipation an Option

    Here's the story in a nutshell;

    My 16 y.o., who will be 17 in September, daughter wishes to move out of mine and her step fathers house to go move in with her grandparents. The reason(s) is/are not important (especially since they are trivial in my opinion) but anyway, she receives SSI for Survivors Benefits which will end at age 18. She is not currently working nor has she ever worked.

    I do not wish to be held responsible in any areas, financial or criminal, for her actions or inactions. How do I protect myself from her decision to move out at 16?

    If you actually want to know if emancipation is an option in your state, you have to identify your state.
