Default Mother Of Son Moved Out Of State
I'm from denver colorado.
this is my situation. 11 yrs ago I had a child and because his mother found out I cheated on her she let me see him once and then disappeared out of state. I had absolutely no idea where she was, and went to see a doctor for depession and was put on anti-depressants for a year. A couple of yrs later she called my mother on fathers day to let her know that he was doing well and she still would not give her location. 3 yrs later she sent me a letter saying that I would never know what it's like to hold my child in my arms and a few other things. She had her letter sent from a address in colorado but the postage stamp showed it was from somewhere in Illinois. I recently received a message on myspace asking me if I ever miss my son which I replied I always have and always will. She opened up a myspace account to let me see pictures of him and let me know that the decision was now his on whether he wanted to know me or not. The next day she blocked her site from viewing and so I asked her about it. she told me that my child was upset and angry about her contacting me. So she informed me that she was going to delete her myspace account and contact me when he was maybe 16 or 17 or unless he changed his mind about seeing me. I have always wanted to be a father to my son and she has known that since he was born. I feel she is purposely doing this to me so that later in the future she will take me to court for child support. I don't mind paying child support, I just want to see and know my son and it pains me to know that all these yrs are being taken away from me and him. I would appreciate any advice on what kind of steps I could take to see him and if she is violating any laws. thankyou.

Have you been found to be the LEGAL father of this boy through either a signed (and filed) affidavit of paternity or court ordered DNA testing? Have you found out where she and the child are?

If not, that will be your first legal step.

No I haven't done that yet, I was curious to what happens after that?, and what chances I have of seeing my child if any. She didn't want me present when he was born so I never got to sign the birth certificate.

After paternity is established you can request visitation. It is very likely that the court will order visitation, although sometimes there is a gradual period of introduction before normal visitation is established.
