Default Helping a Friend Get Away From His Parents

I was wondering if it was at all possible if my best friend could be able to get away from his parents. He is 17. His dad lives in florida.
and his mom lives in texas [which is where i live]. his dad sometimes beats him. and says nasty things to him to make him feel worthless.
and his mom doesnt care about him. and it hurts me to hear him crying because he feels like no one can help him. his parents have joined custody of him and he has been going back and forth living with each of them. with his dad during school. and with his mom during holidays and breaks. his mom used to do drugs also. if he got a steady job to be able to take care of himself would there be anyway that he could leave them and live in texas for good.
